Holistic Retreats

Discover our little community situated in the unique and magical location of a wooded lake isle.

We specialize in meditation and yoga retreats; vegetarian cookery workshops and kirtan experiences within a Vedic temple. Inisrath Island is a 22-acre island situated within the main Hare Krishna community in Ireland. We grow vegetables, keep bees for honey, and are developing other principles of sustainable and eco-conscious living. The island is a beautiful and lush treasure of mature woodland, with a large period residence at its centre.

"I found my retreat on Inisrath to be thoroughly relaxing and beneficial - exactly what I needed to calm the mind. The atmosphere in the house and temple was very special" Adam

"If everybody took some time out and spent the weekend on Inis Rath I think life would become easier. I took the time to slow down and think. You couldnt meet a nicer bunch of people, the welcome and inclusion in the events is great. Very memorable experience, I went home with a smile on my face...."
Frank Dunlop, Birmingham

"I had such a lovely time at Lake Isle Retreat. The island was so beautiful, everyone so friendly, food amazing and to my delight, in large quantities. I really liked the variety of things you could do like yoga, eastern philosophy, hiking, cooking, meditation, massage and other treatment and the retreat was priced so reasonably. I even managed to bring home a couple of beautiful peacock feathers, from the many peacocks roaming around the place. I will definitely be back again :)"

"Before arriving at the Lake Isle Retreat my expectations were limited and I went there open minded but not expecting such a wonderful experience. There is little to fault about this beautifully situated retreat. On arrival you are treated with glorious scenery, lovely people and delicious food. The weekend continued to be very interesting and indeed a retreat from the world. The combination of Yoga, cooking classes, country walks, meditation etc the weekend was an escape from all that is the city and stress. From the spiritual perspective I learned a good deal and openness of belief through conversation and discussion. When leaving you feel you have truly spent 2 full days away and you mind body and soul have been nourished. "

"I arrived at the Lake in a city state of being, rushing and slightly wary of my fellow retreatees, yet after a wonderful, relaxing, inclusive weekend with wonderful people in a beautiful setting, delicious veggie food and gentle yoga and beautiful Kirtan sessions, I left with many friends and beautiful memories, but most importantly I felt my connection with something greater than myself again. Thank you, I'll be back. Jessica"

""I recently had a lovely, relaxing stay at the lakeisle retreat on inisrath and have returned to work rejuvinated and glowing with a new sense of purpose. The food was fantastic and the people were friendly, accomodating and interesting. I hope to take some vegetarian cooking courses in the future. A 'rest like no other' it has to be said.""

"I went on a weekend retreat here with the Trinity College Yoga Society in 2008. The hospitality was overwhelming and every effort was made to accommodate us. We brought our own teacher and had our own schedule which were allowed follow undisturbed. The food was delicious and the setting so beautiful and still. It was removed from all distractions allowing the guests to take time for themselves. I would definitely reccomend it :)"

"My experience at Inish Rath was invaluable, not only did I enjoy the atmosphere and relaxing ambience of the Island but I also made some kind and wonderful friends. I will definitely be going back and would recommend this truly unique place to anyone"
Catherine Grant, Waterford, Ireland

"A warm place in my heart is reserved for Inis Rath Island such was my visit there, the gentle community make a person feel right at home with comfortable accomodation and the food is really good. I still cook one of the recipes that we were shown during the vegetarian cookery lesson to this day! Our group on the yoga retreat learned some fascinating yoga (postures, breathing, relaxation and even tried sound mediation), we heard some Vedic knowledge (the oldest philosophy in the world) and even a little bit about ourselves...I think it really helped that the place is so peaceful. We also had some company in the form of peacocks, rabbits and the occasional deer could also be seen, all adding to the magical charm of Inis Rath I would love to treat myself and return to the Island its a rare and beautiful place everyone should experience. "

"I spent a weekend in Inisrath in August 2007, participating in yoga, chanting and meditation. I came away restored in mind, body and spirit. A perfect place to escape from the busy and stressful lives we lead these days. Tim is the perfect host and I was very impressed with the kindness and hospitality shown to me by everyone there. The food is delicious and I hope to go back this year to do the vegetarian cooking course."
