The Quinta hugs the shore of Europe's cleanest, mosquito-free lake and is the perfect getaway that caters for individuals, couples, groups or workshops.
While there’s plenty for the active to do, for those who want to chill there’s not a single sound from the outside world, (no planes, trains or automobiles), and just sitting on your own private terrace and listening to the birds in the garden and the waves lapping the shore is enough to slow the heartbeat.
Yoga and other Hollistic workshops
Over the past 30 years we’ve had the pleasure of hosting many different retreats and workshops, and have a 20 x 8 mt Shala offering a sheltered space for 20 to 30 people practicing yoga, meditation or other forms of body/mind/spirit work either in a group during a retreat or alone at all other times. You can also book private yoga sessions at the Quinta.
Nuturising food cooked with love and passion
Here at the Quinta we love to cater for all tastes and we prepare healthy vibrant food with fresh ingredients from the local village and the Quinta's gardens. We have a lot of experience in catering for all diets including vegetarian, gluten free and vegan on request for individuals or groups. Our meals are wholesome and simple, a real treat for body & soul. You only have to visit our own website and read the reviews on Tripadvisor to get a taste, excuse the pun, of what to expect.
Birdwatching and Nature Walks & Nature Photography
We are actively engaged in conservation projects worldwide and, being the home of one of Portugal’s leading Birding Guides, as well as having our own hides, we offer guided Nature and Birdwatching walks and expeditions throughout Southern Portugal.
Our professional Guides are enthusiastic and love to share their knowledge about the local fauna and flora. Moreover, being professional photographers as well, they can give you tips that take years to learn in the field. Tours can be booked directly at the Quinta, but it is always good to book in advance.
When’s the best time to spoil yourself with a Japanese Shiatsu massage?
When you’re at the Quinta of course, and Daniela’s always on hand to do just that.
Shiatsu is a style of bodywork that uses finger pressure to specific acupressure points, rocking movements, stretches and joint rotations to restore the healthy flow of energy or "Ki" in Japanese.
Shiatsu is a holistic, deeply relaxing treatment that re-balances your energies.
Activities at a lake setting
At the Quinta adventure’s literally waiting on your doorstep.
SUPs, canoeing, sailing or simply swimming in water pure enough to drink, you’re spoiled for choice here.
Should you visit us during the Spring it might be a good idea to heat up in the Sauna before you go for a swim in the lake, but from May to September the water temperature’s never far off 28ºC, 82ºF. There are several lawns with sun loungers close to the water where you can boost your Vitamin D levels while reading a book from our comprehensive library.
The Quinta has 10 rooms in a mixture of doubles, triples, twins and family rooms. All have a private bathroom and a small terrace with lake view.
We can accommodate in the high 20s, with 20 in single beds (shared accommodation). The bathrooms are spacious and they all have a large bath with a shower. You can either rent the Quinta in its entirety for retreats or just individual rooms if you’re coming on your own. The Sauna, the SUPs, the canoes and the rowing boats are all included in the price of your stay.
We host Batik and Printing workshops at various times during the year, flying out from the UK specialists in these fields. Full details and dates can be supplied on request.
We’re proud to say that we have been “green” since way before it became fashionable.
Starting from scratch over 30 years ago, we built the Quinta from the ground up and being totally off the grid we quickly appreciated the benefits of this lifestyle.
Our electricity is 90% provided by the sun, our water is both pumped and heated by the sun. What we can’t grow ourselves we buy locally, and we employ locally too, keeping five families going in this under-populated area.
We don’t just pay lip service to sustainable practices – we’ve lived it since we started here.
We have one room with disabled facilities (wheel chair friendly).
