Andrew and Vonetta run a meditative retreat space called Vale de Moses. There is daily Yoga classes, massage & acupuncture treatments in the remote Portuguese mountains. Nestled in the valleys below the picturesque village of Amieira, Oleiros, Vale de Moses is an old restored terraced farm with newly planted woodland gardens and orchards and 2 rivers with cascading natural pools. Yoga retreats in 2013 run between March and November with an experienced team of yoga teachers and therapists, with guided walks and mud baths. 425€ to 750€ per week. 20% discount for 2 weeks. Group hire available.
A good night’s sleep is essential for our bodies to rest and heal from the demands we make of them in our lives. The 4 stone houses in the forest that they restored are deeply restful places to sleep and to bathe. You can choose from 2 private bedrooms in the farmhouse or shared places in either the guest house or the Adega. All the beds are either high quality mattresses or Portuguese made futons with cotton sheets, towels, blankets, pillows and duvets.
3 delicious ayurvedic meals a day are offered using fresh vegetables and fruit available from the retreats own gardens during the season or from a favourite local greengrocer in Oleiros. The menu is eclectic in nature fusing Vonni’s Barbadian cooking with Andy’s English and Italian roots. Rich in pulses, grains and fresh vegetables, low in salt and high in fresh herbs. Honey from local wild bees rather than sugar. Cooked with mindful attention and according to basic yet profound Ayurvedic principles, our food is tasty, fresh, easily digested and balanced to truly support your yoga practice and well-being.
