This retreat will provide you with tools to manage negative thoughts, a space to be you and develop coping strategies for Anxiety and Depression. You will come away understanding your difficulties and have a clear plan to help you move forward with a feeling of newness and peace of mind as well as confidence in yourself and the tools you have gained.
Our participants say they experience connection and inspiration from likeminded people, who have been where they have before and understand. It will help you to not feel so alone with your struggles and will give you solutions for managing your mental health on a daily basis so you can function and feel like your 'old self' again.
Managing negative thoughts and emotions
We help you to manage your negative thoughts and develop techniques to overcome feelings of overwhelm. We use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness and other key skills in thought management. We show you evidence based techniques to bring mindfulness into your life enabling you to feel happier within yourself. This will help you to become more positive in your relationships both with yourself and others. Vanessa also teaches you the brain science behind your thinking so you can understand why you feel the way you do and hence build techniques to support you to be more focused and in the moment. The retreat will bring you peace of mind, you will understand how to be calmer, reduce worry and anxiety and lift your mood.
An environment free of judgement and criticism, a place to be yourself
The retreat is run as a series of therapeutic and experiential workshops where you can understand your anxiety and depression and gain tools to manage your emotions and thoughts in a safe environment. We need to feel safe to heal and this is our absolute mission to provide this for our participants. Lorna and Vanessa have had years of experience of running group therapy in mental health settings and are highly skilled in provided this safe environment. You will come away feeling renewed, heard and validated.
Explore your vision for your life, your self care plan
We use creativity as well as lots of self care tools to support you to build a plan for yourself going forward. This is individual for you and will be based on everything you learn over the weekend.
Therapeutic yoga and Meditation to support body and spirit
You will experience gentle yoga to provide you with healing for your body, mind and spirit. Yoga is so supportive for mental wellbeing and mood balance, your yoga teacher, will demonstrate to you how this can be used on a daily basis to give you positive results.
1-1 sessions with an expert psychotherapist before on and after the retreat
Whilst on the retreat you will have a one to one session with one of our qualified counsellors or psychotherapists. You will be matched to a therapist specific to what your needs are.
We provide 1-1 sessions prior to the retreat, on request, and for 3 months after the retreat if required.
The sessions can be held face to face (distance allowing), zoom or the telephone dependent on your preference.
Opportunity to connect with likeminded people and build support
A benefit of a retreat is the opportunity to connect with likeminded people. By sharing with others you can eliminate any sense of isolation and loneliness. You can come away feeling a sense of being heard and knowing that you are not alone.
Group sessions are facilitated by Vanessa Wallace and her psychotherapeutic team bringing a family feel to the whole retreat and safety to share and be open about your feelings.
You are not asked to share more than you feel comfortably able to and there is an opportunity for 1-1 session if you prefer to not share in a group.
Workbook and extra gifts
You will be guided through the whole experience with a workbook of your own to take home. We aim to make you feel so special and cared for during this retreat and if you have special requests as to the sessions or support you need we will do our best to accommodate this.
Full body therapeutic massage
During your stay with us you will receive a full body deep tissue massage. This is optional but is hugely beneficial in aiding recovery from anxiety and depression, releasing tension in the body caused by holding stress for long periods of time.

Our next retreat at this venue is a Young Person's Anxiety and Depression Recovery retreat from the 18-20th August. Age range 19-25. All applications will be given a free introductory session and assessment before acceptance. 2 places residential and 2 non residential left on this retreat.
