Join a relaxing week-time retreat at a beautiful farmhouse retreat centre near the North Devon Coast. The week includes restorative practices of Yoga and cooking to help you rest, heal and reset.
Stay at the Holwell Holistic Retreat centre which is a converted farmhouse in 5 acres of Devon farmland with a private Yoga centre in a converted eco barn, therapy rooms, and wild and wonderful grounds.
The immersive cooking course combines gut health, plant-based cooking, Ayurvedic digestive aid techniques and holistic practices. There will be daily Yoga and meditation classes at the private Yoga barn, practising techniques to calm the body and activate a restful and healing mode.
Massage treatments and outdoor activities such as surfing and coasteering are also available to book.
A restorative daily schedule
Each day will begin with a mindful morning routine and a light breakfast before moving outdoors to connect with nature. Sea kayaking, surfing, coasteering and stand-up paddling boarding lessons are available to book through the week. We will also offer guided walks for the group.
After lunch we will slow down and settle into an afternoon cooking lesson, covering topics such as ‘Plant-based Nutrition’ or ‘An Introduction to Spices’. Our nutritionists will also teach classes covering topics such as gut health, immunity, hormone balancing and the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda.
The day will end with a relaxing Yin Yoga or Yoga Nidra class, or a private massage, and a delicious meal shared with the group.
Learn how to cook and eat for your body
Each cooking class will tackle a different aspect of how to cook for yourself, using foraged herbs from our natural surroundings in North Devon, sprouted beans and pulses, and fermented produce.
During the week two nutrition experts will teach you about subjects such as gut health, immunity, hormone balancing and the ancient Indian science of Ayurveda in fascinating afternoon sessions with breaks for snacks and hot drinks.
The cooking and nutrition experts will help you create a balanced diet and a boundless energy source.
Calming practices that will reset your body and breath
Whether you have practised Yoga for a long time or you are just trying it out, you will be able to experience the deep restorative powers of the practices during the week. Every morning we will practice exercises in our private Yoga studio that release tension from the body and help you move beyond the busy ‘thinking mind’. In the evenings we will do a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra meditation to encourage deep sleep or sew a seed of an intention you would like to bring into your life.
Get in the sea and even try a new watersport
We will be staying a short drive away from the North Devon coast which means you can try out a number of activities in the sea such as surfing, stand-up-paddleboarding, coasteering, kayaking, or even just a walk along the South West Coast Path.
Every morning you will have time to explore the local area, whether that’s a hike around Exmoor National Park, an adventurous surf lesson or an ice-cream on Woolacombe beach.
The healing power of the ocean is an important part of the retreat, giving you a chance to get away from normal life and reset in a beautiful environment.
