Newhouse Farm Cottages, Witheridge, Devon

Once a working farm, our Grade II listed stone barns have been carefully converted to a high standard, preserving the character and original features of the buildings, including stone walls, exposed wooden beams, and roof trusses. Set within extensive grounds and courtyard gardens, there are plentiful peaceful areas to pause, reflect, listen to birdsong, and observe wildlife, including barn owls, badgers, hares, and deer.

Hire individual cottages, or take exclusive use of all nine. For smaller retreats, unused cottages can be closed off to provide privacy and exclusive use of the site. Across our nine cottages, when shared by couples, we can accommodate up to 46 guests in 23 bedrooms. For groups without couples, please note that as our double and king beds do not convert into singles, the maximum occupancy is 33 guests (with under-occupancy discounts available). Each cottage has central heating, Wi-Fi, a spacious living room and well equipped kitchen with dining area. Some cottages also feature a wood-burning stove for added cosiness. Bedrooms offer a mix of en-suite and shared bathrooms, giving facilitators the flexibility to offer retreat places at a range of price points.

Our facilities cater to a wide range of retreat experiences and include a heated indoor pool with counter-current jets, a traditional sauna, a large level field ideal for outdoor group activities, a peaceful stream-side walk and over 30 acres of land to explore.
We also offer flexible indoor spaces. The Hayloft is suitable for classes, meetings, or dining, while the adjacent studio with underfloor heating provides an additional warm space for sessions or meals. The games room can be transformed into a communal sitting area and our barbecue lodge offers a cosy setting for relaxed gatherings in all weathers, complete with firepit.
Accommodation is offered on a self-catering basis but we can introduce facilitators to an experienced retreat chef if helpful.

The Linhay is a single-storey barn conversion with three en-suite wet rooms and Trotters has a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite shower room, making them suitable for guests who prefer not to use stairs. As a supporter of Plastic Free North Devon, we are committed to minimising single-use plastics and encourage guests to bring re-useable water bottles from which to enjoy our private (and delicious) water supply.
