A weekend designed to get you back into nature. All of our activities are centred around spending time outside and enjoying all that the Trossachs National Park has to offer.
Morning workouts in the grounds of Royal Cottage, scenic hikes up surrounding mountains, biking through woodland trails and relaxing by the fire at the historic Royal Cottage at the end of the day.
All accommodation, meals, snacks and drinks included in the price as well as a special goodie bag for each guest.
All of our meals are prepared at Royal Cottage with fresh ingredients. We try and source produce locally and even grow some in our garden. We can cater to most dietary requirements and will always have a number of vegetarian dishes available at meal times. Our food is designed to be shared in a social setting. On our retreats we won't let anyone go hungry and there are always healthy snacks available throughout the day.
On our fitness retreats the days start with an hour long outdoor work out led by qualified Personal Trainer Kim. After breakfast we will get ready for the day's main activity which will either be a hike, bike ride or combination of the two. This usually lasts for between 4 and 5 hours and is led by Alex who is a qualified Mountain Leader and Ride Leader. On return to Royal Cottage Kim will lead a stretching session. On Sunday the day's activity is generally shorter to accommodate guests' departure.
Royal Cottage on the banks of Loch Katrine was originally built in the 1850s as a place for Queen Victoria to stay while she opened the revolutionary waterworks that fed the growing city of Glasgow with clean water over 50km away. In the past decade the current owners and their family have painstakingly restored the building to the cosy Highland escape it is today, complete with modern energy saving technology and wood burning stoves in all the communal areas. Secluded at the end of a 3 mile private road Royal Cottage is the perfect getaway.
Alex was brought up hillwalking around Scotland and his love of the mountains has led to him working as a ski instructor in the winter and a mountain leader in the summer. Alex and his partner Kim started running retreats to inspire people to lead a more active lifestyle by spending time outdoors. On our fitness retreats you will find Alex leading all of our hikes and bike rides, as well as answering any geography related questions!
Kim has always been involved with sports and physical activity and has been working as a ski instructor for the last 10 years. In the summer, Kim works as personal trainer and fitness instructor for group classes as well as surfing and hiking in her free time. During our fitness retreats, Kim is the trainer for all the workouts and recovery sessions.
