Slim and Tonic provides well-researched and personally tailored affordable retreats to those wanting to make positive and lasting lifestyle changes, whether it is to lose weight or reduce the risk of weight related diseases such as Diabetes Type 2. Our programme is designed to improve your insulin profile and omega ratio.
The retreat is held in the beautiful Stara Planina Balkan Mountains, 600m above sea level, in an area known for its clean air. This creates an ideal setting for Slim and Tonic to deliver its retreat programmes; fresh food, fresh air, fresh spring water and a fresh perspective on managing your health. We are a small and friendly health and wellness retreat.
Our boutique retreat facilities are limited to 6 guests only, to allow for personal attention and include:

Our walks set off from our doorstep to explore the unspoilt scenery where the only people you meet are either local villagers or a shepherd watching his sheep and goats. The walks are absolutely tranquil with only the sounds of nature.
The Slim and Tonic Retreat Programme
The retreat programme will help you take control of your own health through gaining knowledge and confidence to make lifestyle changes that are right for you. During your 7-day stay with us there will be daily workshops covering key aspects of healthy eating. Learn how to make healthy food swaps, balance blood sugar, choose healthier carbohydrates, proteins and fats, learn why fibre is important and more. Inflammation is at the root of most diseases - arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. we will look at some of the best anti-inflammatory foods and ways of incorporating them into your daily meals. This programme includes cookery demonstrations and a variety of exercise activities to suit your own individual level of fitness, from absolute beginners just starting out.

Slim and Tonic Philosophy
Slim and Tonic’s philosophy is that healthy eating for weight loss and better health does not have to mean feeling deprived of delicious food; we believe that real and nutritious food can provide the taste and variety you need to actively enjoy your meals. We do not believe in fad diets; diets that are a temporary fix to a lifelong problem can lead to nutritional deficiencies and muscle loss. So this retreat is not for you if you are looking for a “quick fix”/fad diet/ short term weight loss, we provide “real” food and the knowledge to lose weight and keep it off, long term.
Everyone is unique, we all have different likes and dislikes, different nutritional needs and we know that a "one size fits all" approach does not work.
The Risk Of Type 2 Diabetes
Diabetes is the fastest growing health threat of our time. There are currently 4 million people living with diabetes in the UK and of these 549,000 are unaware they have the condition. Recent figures released by Public Health England indicate that 5 million people in England are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. This 7 day programme may help to reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and thereby potentially avoid the serious associated complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputations. Nearly half of people with Type 2 diabetes already have signs of complications by the time they are diagnosed.

We are passionate about “REAL” food, eating for optimum health benefits and exercise. Sally the founder of Slim and Tonic, is passionate about creating a health retreat aimed at helping individuals take control of their health and well being.
Sally qualified with Distinction in 2015 in Clinical Nutrition. Following this, furthered her education in Prevention and Management of diabetes. Sally is registered with the Complimentary Medicine Association, is a professional member of Diabetes UK, The Nutrition Society, College of Medicine and the PHC (Public Health Collaboration).
Sally strongly believes (CPD) Continuing Professional Development is vital to ensure her knowledge stay relevant and up to date for her clients.
