Sun and Sea Greek Island, Hydra, Retreat Venue

Originally the mansion’s ballroom, our indoor studio space is a beautiful and calm, light filled room with windows overlooking the sea. It is a flexible space that can accommodate large or small groups of 10 to 20 people. And it is adaptable to your type of workshop: yoga, meditation, dance, writing, seminars etc.

For yoga it is fully equipped with everything you need to teach with ease, including yoga mats, blocks, blankets, straps and the floor can be laid out with gym mats to provide a more comfortable surface for floor work.

There are also two terraces that can be used outdoor studio spaces. Our lower terrace in the shade and garden is great for Art retreats as well as writing and yoga. Our upper terraces offers views of the island and can be adapted as a studio space as needed.

The island of Hydra is one of the few places on earth where can enjoy the absolute quiet of no cars and no traffic. You walk through traditional Greek stone streets with donkeys and cats as companions and swim in the turquoise Mediterranean Sea of Greece. Ideal for rejuvenation, getaway and artistic retreats. Hydra island has many beaches to explore and beautiful hiking trails to monasteries and caves.

Oikonomou house offers six beautiful bedrooms. Three of which have one double bed and three of which can be shared rooms. One library space can be adapted into additional 7th bedroom.

Four of of the bedrooms are on the mezzanine floor and have a view of the garden. One bedroom is upstairs facing a private courtyard. And one bedroom is in the garden studio, making it ideal for a teacher who wishes to have a separate space.

Interiors are inspired by traditional Greek houses with a personal touch in decor from different parts of the world.

Dining can be set up on the upper terrace of the house with a view of the sea and the island. Or on the lower terrace with in the garden. Or for a smaller group of 10 indoors at the Living Room table.

There are two kitchens for cooking spaces. We do not provide catering but should you wish to arrange it for your retreat the house is fully equipped with all you might need.

There are many day trips and excursions to explore on the island. Boat trips are the island, sunset boat tours, half day trips by boats to beaches.

There are organised hiking and horse riding tours.

Day trips can be made to the neighboring islands of Spetses and Poros or the mainland market on Thursdays in Ermioni

Hydra is a car-free island so walking is essential

Eco cleaning products are used at our house.
We use Korres shower products, which are cruelty-free and and based on natural ingredients.
Drinking water is filtered at the fridge to reduce waste from plastic bottles
All waste is recycled or composted.
We are conscious of our energy consumption.
We regularly plant trees and plants in the garden and woodland and grow our own fruits.

Hydra island is reached via ferry boat from Pireaus Port Greece. The closest airport is Athens international airport. To get from the Airport to Pireaus port there are trains, buses and taxis. On arrival in Hydra the house is a 15 minute walk from the port. The island is car-free so walking is the only means of getting around.
